Are you here for a short period of time only? Have you got a train to catch up to another city or destination, yet still want to find out about Slovakia’s culture, history, traditions, or food?
This tour will give you an exciting introduction to just that. Even if your knowledge of Slovakia is just basic, it does not really matter because you will find out all the important bits whilst taking a lovely stroll around downtown with me.
What can you expect?
As already mentioned, we will cover many different topics. What I want is for you to be fully oriented and aware of what my country has to offer. You’ll know what and where to eat, a bit about our history, about life behind the Iron Curtain, and much more.
How will we go about it?
We‘ll start our tour in the city centre, from where we are going to proceed to visit Bratislava’s best spots. We’ll meet and greet in front of the Maximilian fountain (also known as Rolland’s fountain) situated on the Main square or Hlavné námestie. Not only is it easy to find, but if you look up at the fountain, you’ll see four guys taking a piss. You might have been to Brussel, which is famous for its Manneken Pis – well, here in Slovakia you’ll get 4 of them in one place!
From there, we’ll pass by the Old town hall, then we’ll meet Slovakia’s most photographed citizen, followed by the Slovak national theatre and the new bridge with its one-of-its-kind UFO restaurant. Moving onwards, we’ll reach the highest point of our tour – the Bratislava castle – with its prime location above the Danube River which warrants a stunning view. On the way back, we’ll touch upon such topics as the current and past political situation, as we’ll be passing the Slovak national council building. Questions like “What the most prominent party is; all the biggest and juiciest scandals and so on, will all be answered. Our tour will culminate at the Last standing gate of the historical city fortification, through which we shall pass.
